Dignity and Honor Elegantly United

Challenge

We were commissioned to create a noble and dignified resting place for the installation of a memorial plot.

Approach

The site prepared for the project allowed us to work only within certain boundaries. The placement of the various sacred symbols was carefully coordinated with the materials used. The consulting architect provided the guiding design concept.

Materials, Processing, Special Features in Detail

Steel sheet, tombac sheet, powder-coated aluminum cladding, gold leaf, Passeirer gneiss, LED spotlights.

A shifted stone symbolizes resurrection. Three elements of varying lengths, tapering toward the ends, represent the course of life and the process of mummification.

Internal sacred symbols include “The Eye of God” (ashes deposit), a school of fish, and the Latin quote:

“Omnis, qui vivit et credit in me, non morietur in aeternam”
(“Everyone who lives and believes in me shall live forever”).

The Finished Solution / Product

A dignified resting place with lovingly crafted details.

“There was a need to install a memorial plot at the municipal cemetery. We wanted a special and unique, yet portable solution, which is why we turned to Metallatelier for its design.”

Hartmann N.Cultural Assessor, Municipality of Parcines

“We consulted architect Thomas Walder from St. Martin in Passeier (@gertraudpamerblumenrosi) for the design and details of the memorial plot. In collaboration with Mr. Walder, we ensured a smooth, timely, and aesthetically pleasing fabrication of this unique work.”
